When I was a child, I had a recurring dream, quite frightening, of flying and being caught in my pursuers net. I remember the turning point after which I never again had that dream. Let freedom ring!
When I was a child I had the flying escape dreams but they stopped years ago. I belong to a Jungian Dream Group and interestingly, none of us has had dreams of flying. Hmm.
I am somewhat familiar with them. I actually edit a Jungian journal. I'm more familiar with active imagination where you can engage with dream figures. It seems somewhat similar?
This idea of active imagination seems very similar to what most poetry writing is like for me. I feel like I slip momentarily into a sideways world and speak for it by recording it. It's a lovely place to be and seems trance-like, something very similar to my world of carpentry which could sometimes be an eight hour long trance.
This is a lovely poem, and close to my heart. Dreams are a potent force behind the words that find their way into my poetry, and sometimes I let my memory of them loose on paper so that a poem takes shape.
Lovely. I dream of flying and it's always a big deal when I do. I wake up feeling on top of the world since I've been flying around it all night. Those days following a flying dream are always ones filled with a lot of power, a sense of being bulletproof to all of life's petty concerns. Now being fully retired and writing so much I feel as though my days are more similar to my flying dreams, great freedom and creativity. Just ordered your book today, it may arrive at the same time we do from here, on June 1st. thanks, as always.

Absolutely. I haven’t had that getting lost dream in a long time.
I love those last four lines, and how the poem starts with a dark moment and ends with such joy. I didn't expect that order.
Thanks!

Thank you for this evocative poem.
I haven't had one in ages but I used to have them all the time. I could use a flying dream now.
Are you familiar with lucid dreaming where you are awake while dreaming and can control your dreams? Lovely poem. Congratulations on the book.

Absolutely. I edited a book by a woman who painted her visions from her active imaginations. They were amazing.
Hey Leeann,
This is a lovely poem, and close to my heart. Dreams are a potent force behind the words that find their way into my poetry, and sometimes I let my memory of them loose on paper so that a poem takes shape.
To dreams,
