So wonderfully ultra-specific, LeeAnn, the way all my favorite poems are. And I agree with you about letting the sweet things in rather than pushing them away -- for the reasons you mentioned, plus our celebrating the truth of sweet things holds a space open for people who can't experience them with us right now; saving a seat for those folks at the sweetness banquet is an act of hope, and faith, and love.
Lovely poem LeeAnn, I can really relate to the complex feelings around lockdown - while I would never want the world to stop for that reason again, I found stopping to be healing in other ways, and the two feelings don’t always sit well together - and congrats on the publication! Thanks so much for the recommend too - I really appreciate it! 💜
You are so welcome. I always get so much from your posts. I confess there have been moments when life seems to be coming at me from every direction that I've thought, I could use a couple of weeks shut down again. There was a quietness to some of the days and the walks we took, which was really quite lovely.
I'm a huge Ross Gay fan and I have to say I love your poem even more than his. The pace is just perfect allowing me to take in all the intricate details. Bittersweet sweetness, one I can really connect with.
Beautiful, LeeAnn. Thank you for this. It's a powerful reminder to notice and allow in the sweet things no matter how much suffering there is and always was in this existence.

I love that, holding that sweet space for those who can't experience them right now. Thank you.
Well done LeeAnn. Lovely long sentences and flowing style.
Thanks so much, Sea.

That's quite a compliment. I'm honored. He is such a good poet.
Very good LeeAnn. Whenever I finish a poem and I feel stuff rattling around inside, it's a good sign.
Indeed.
